Supported Video Formats

Vyoopoint supports what seem to be the most common and most widely used (by professionals) video formats, this list will probably change with more formats added in the future as the need arises:

asf, avi, wmv, mov, mpg, mpeg, mp4, m4a, and flv.

When any of these file formats is uploaded into a gallery there are a few things that happen.

  1. File is uploaded and queued for conversion to mp4 encoded with h.264.
  2. Conversion takes place - this can take from 5 min to 30 minutes depending on how busy the queue is and the length and size of the video file (it is possible that really long clips could take more time than this).
  3. The converted file is copied into the gallery as an .mp4, thumbnails are created from frames of the video and it is ready for viewing and/or publishing.

All videos will display at the same size (width & height) as the original uploaded source file so please prepare your video files with this in mind. We want you to control how large you want your reviewers to see the finished piece. If your source file is in flv format then it will not be converted and it will be the actual file displayed by the vyoopoint video viewer, this gives you a bit more control over your compression settings if you prefer to do that step yourself.

Preferred video settings for upload:

  • Video Bit Rate - Videos should be optimized for resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate rather than bit rate.
  • Video Codec - H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4
  • Audio Codec - MP3 or AAC
  • Audio Sampling Rate - 44.1kHz

Hello Vyoopoint,

We really enjoy the vyoopoint software and we are just getting started with it. Many of the features work great, particularly with still images. However,

we are having some trouble working with video. The main problem is with markups.

When we add markups and comments, the program seems to be somewhat unstable. Sometimes comments are saved, and other times text comments that have already been saved disappear and cannot be viewed again. When we try to use the markup tools (like arrow, pencil, etc), the performance is even more erratic. Either the the markup (i.e. the image of the arrow, or the circle drawn with the pencil tool) stays in the same place as the video progresses (instead of just appearing in one specific frame), or the markup disappears after the comment is saved.

The terminology used is also somewhat confusing:

cuepoint comment

timeline comment

gallery comment

What is the difference between these three types of comment? All of them seem to to exhibit the same problems in the tests we did.

Thanks,

David
